Jan 10th - Outfit #8 - Embroidery and Asymmetry

Woo, it's Thursday, and I'm taking a long weekend, so I won't be back until Monday. Quelle drag, I know, but you'll manage.
Today is all "fresh" items for this month (well, except for the boots which I wore last weekend here, 2nd outfit).

We start out with the brown skirt, featuring very crazy "long monkey arm pockets" as my co-worker Gord called them.
Blown-out colour so you can see draping and details.
The pockets are on each side, near where my hand is. I got this skirt on my last foray into Oak Bay with Cat back in November (here, scroll down past much wackiness). It's by "Fleur de Mon Secret" (flower of my secret), a very silly name for clothing. It was around $40 and is frankly not worth it. It's not lined and it doesn't have any attention to detail, including the teeny little 4" zipper that I'm supposed to ease over my not-4" hips.
But it has the Vizzini seal of approval!

The jacket is by Le Chateau and is one I coveted on a friend several years ago, then finally spotted on consignment in late January/early February 2011 where I bargained it down from $50 to $40 (because I'm a good customer, and it doesn't hurt to ask). I first wore it here for a one-week wardrobe challenge in Feburay 2011 (there's a good picture there if you scroll down of the embroidery on the front).

Since then, I've worn it in April 2011 (with a full purple skirt), then in November 2011 with a whole lot of orange and some teal, and lastly in December 2011 with the long black skirt from this month's capsule and some boots that I miss (although they killed my feet and were too high).

In summary: this jacket = da bomb.

The green top I'm wearing underneath is new-to-me, thrifted back in September (here, scroll down) for $20.50.
I recently re-watched "Kate and Leopold" on TV and immediately recognized the style as classic 2001. Sleeveless, high-neck, fitted. This is by Danier Leather and it's made in Canada (hooray!).
And it's "leather". Actually, it's "suede" - but I shouldn't be using quote marks. It really is suede.

Stuff on a shelf:
Now with 100% more balled-up tights!

FYI, the "socks" that everyone was exclaiming about yesterday aren't socks. They are knee-high tights aka trouser socks (because knee-highs sound like something your grandma wears). Not socks. Not knit. Tights. Only knee-high. The brand is Sox Trot, but it even says on the packaging "knee highs."

Jacket (Le Chateau, consignment), top (Danier Leather, thrifted), skirt (La Fleur de Mon Secret, consignment), boots (Gabor), wood ring (Dots), amber ring (some junky store), gold hoops (gift from L).

Have a great weekend!
